Blaire's Been: Mykonos
Continuing my Tour de Greece, I of course had to make a stop in Mykonos! Though so much of our days were spent touring hotels, we surely experienced the amazing restaurants (in my opinion, Mykonos has the BEST food in Greece), a beach club and got lost in the cute city center. Mykonos definitely has a vibe... the lively atmosphere completely engulfed the city, and you knew everyone was there for a good time! Whether you love eating, sunbathing, clubbing or enjoying time spent with family and friends, Mykonos surely has something for everyone! (though I truly do think Mykonos is meant for a more mature clientele - teenagers+)
As mentioned, I toured A LOT of hotels while I was there! Here's a synopsis of those I saw or stayed at:
Mykonos Blu
I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Mykonos Blu during my stay, and truthfully, I think this hotel is the most well rounded on the island. Not only was Mykonos Blu cool, completely decorated with white and hints of blue and had an incredible room product, it was also so well located. One thing you need to note is that there are only 30 taxis on the island of Mykonos, and Mykonos Blu is walking distance to Nammos, one of the most famous beach clubs in the world. This is huge so you don't have to wait for hours for a cab or even worse - walk home! Another thing I loved about Mykonos Blu is that it has its own private beach. Many resorts in Mykonos do not have beach access and you have to go to a beach club, so this is such a huge bonus too. I stayed in an Open Plan Suite with a Plunge Pool, and if budget allows, I HIGHLY recommend this room category!
Boheme
I toured Boheme which is a cute boutique hotel that's within walking distance to Mykonos' town. This is a great and quiet alternative to a larger resort, and it's in a great location. I loved the rooms. They were very boho and cool! The pool space was lovely, too, and very spread out.
Belvedere
I visited Belvedere which is a lovely property on the edge of town. The entire property overlooks the white buildings of Chora (aka Mykonos Town) until they reach the sea. Belvedere also has a Six Senses spa which is HUGE for any spa junkie :) This property felt sophisticated, upscale and well located. This is not the property for you, though, if you want some more space and to feel spread out.
Bill & Coo
I toured the Bill & Coo property in town, and it was COOL! The décor was ultra modern and minimal. The pool area was used by many hotel guests and is adjoined to the indoor/outdoor dining space and the bar area. At sunset, the pool loungers are transformed to couches for guests to enjoy the gorgeous view while having a cocktail. Bill & Coo has a sister property, Bill & Coo Coastal Suites that I was unable to visit, but it has a boho vibe and sits directly on the beach.
Mykonos Grand
Out of all the properties I visited, Mykonos Grand felt the most family friendly. This resort, much like Mykonos Blu, had its own dedicated beach space, but Mykonos Grand is very separate from much of the hustle and bustle of Mykonos. What I loved so much about Mykonos Grand is that there are so many room categories to appease any budget, and its resort pool is huge!!
Myconian Collection
The Myconian Collection is a hotel group which consists of 9 properties. One, Myconian Ambassador, is located directly in between the two biggest beach clubs in Mykonos and is the flagship property of the collection. Three properties are clumped together and are walking distance to the town. The remaining 5 properties are on the far East of the island and have essentially created a town of its own complete with many pools, restaurants and a dedicated beach space. These five properties are about 30 minutes from Mykonos Town, however, so you really won't be going back and forth often. Out of every hotel I saw in Greece, these are the most instagrammable! Each hotel's décor is based on a color scheme, so there is really something for everyone in this collection.
