Blaire's 5 Best - Albany in the Bahamas
So... I must admit... my time spent at the Albany in the Bahamas was not 100% work related. My husband had a board meeting at this incredible resort, and luckily, spouses were invited - and what a treat it was!!
This complex is mainly residential but has various accommodations available to rent. Though all individually owned, 90% of the accommodations within Albany are decorated by their resident designer making the resort feel cohesive and maintaining a level of luxury.
Albany is part owned by many golf greats and celebrities alike and is absolutely sprawling with activities. From golf to pool time to waterparks to spa... There's seriously something for everyone! While you can drive around the expansive property, the preferred mode of transportation is by golf cart or bike, in my opinion :)
Another thing that was so nice about Albany is that it is only a 15 minute drive to Baha Mar. Baha Mar is a new community on Nassau that has many restaurants and a casino. It's a great bonus to be in such close proximity for a night out, but you can come back to your luxurious and quiet accommodations!
Here are the 5 things I liked most about the Albany at the Bahamas:
1. The number of activities.
Though I touched on this above, there were seriously so many things to do: a world class golf course; a large marina; a waterpark for children; adult + kid friendly pools; cabanas to rent by the adult pool; water sports to choose from, to name a few. There's even a RECORDING STUDIO (buuuut it's off limits to the celebs who frequent the Albany!!) and a movie theatre! You can't get bored here!
2. The Gym.
I know I mentioned the gym above, but it was so impressive. The main gym itself was huge and had tons of equipment (even a Peloton!), but there were also two rooms dedicated to small group workouts, a full sized boxing ring, a lap pool and a crossfit gym in addition to the many varying types of tennis courts. I typically don't love working out while on vacations, but this place was an exception!
3. The Decor
Seriously... it was so chic. Each room category I toured was better and better. And there's something to suit your individual taste... from modern to traditional, every accommodation had a different identity but felt very lux. I absolutely gravitated to how each condo or house was decorated!
4. The Accommodation Options
Depending on what suits you, there are different types of accommodations for rent:
The Marina Residences - these are condos lining the marina and varying in number of bedrooms (from 3-7). There are currently 4 buildings with about 4 more in the process of being sold and constructed. The residences with a view of both the marina and the ocean start on the 4th floor, and I highly recommend those. They're stunning!
The Villas - within this category, there are a few types. There are ocean front villas which are exactly as they sound... there are ocean view villas that are directly behind the ocean front villas and have a reversed floor plan with the living space on the 3rd floor and rooftop patio on the 4th... and there are club villas which are set back from the beach and have an interior courtyard which is the main focus of the living spaces and bedrooms.
Custom Home - there is only one custom home which is located on the golf course that is available to rent.
5. The Dining Options
There was surprisingly a lot of dining options compared to the size of this community. From a grab and go French patisserie to ultra nice restaurants to "pop up" restaurants on rotation to yummy beach and pool service, there were more options that I was anticipating. I didn't have a bad meal at Albany, either!
