Blaire's 5 Best - Cabo
Ok......... before I start talking about the absolutely incredible, super chic, insanely beautiful properties in one of my favorite places, Cabo San Lucas, I want to get one thing off my chest:
I was in Cabo for an entire week and felt 100% safe.
I know there are lots of safety concerns with Mexico these days, and I am not here to push you out of your comfort zone. You should spend money on experiences that don't make you feel uncomfortable. But from my experience, I never thought twice about my safety. Yes, I did stay at some of the best hotels in the country, but I also took local cabs and traversed throughout the entire city.
OK... off my soapbox :)
I had an absolute blast touring the most breathtaking properties in Cabo. The service... the décor... the sounds of the waves crashing, they all were magical and special for their own reasons! Plus, I am lovingggg the amazing amenities at each hotel you receive if you book through BPK! Here are the 5 things I liked best about each property I visited and/or stayed at in Cabo San Lucas:
One & Only Palmilla
Like guys....... this place is amazing! You drive into this luscious oasis in the middle of the desert and the incredible service begins. From being greeted with a fruit popsicle by the most friendly staff, I knew there would be no better place to begin my 4 night stint in Cabo. Here are the 5 things I liked best about the One & Only Palmilla:
- The Family Pool. This pool was everything. The infinity pool overlooked the beautiful ocean and had palm trees perfectly planted on the perimeter. The pool is also HUGE - you wouldn't feel like you are sharing it with tons of children. I loved it!
- The Seating Areas. The One & Only Palmilla does an amazing job of incorporating seating areas throughout the property. From hammocks to benches to fireplaces and all other places meant to be enjoyed as a community, there is plenty of areas to choose from when wanting to relax on the gorgeous grounds.
- The Spa. But really... the spa was one of the prettiest I've ever seen. And did you know that when you book with BPK, you get a 30 minute massage for free!?!
- The Bathrooms. Ok but seriously the bathrooms were SO CUTE. If I were building a house in Mexico, this is what I would want the bathrooms to look like. Super luxurious but very traditional Mexican. Plus all the bath products were placed in gorgeous bottles rather than in small, carry on sized plastic bottles. So chic!
- The Manicured Grounds. It truly looks like every plant had it's specific place and was perfectly chosen for where it continues to grow. The entire property is filled with tons of greenery. It does not feel like you're in the desert AT ALL!
*The only thing with the One & Only Palmilla to consider is that the food is very expensive. Of course it's great, but it's definitely pricier than its competitors.
Las Ventanas
I stopped by Las Ventanas for a site inspection and was so happy to see the Cabo resort coined as the "most romantic"!! I received a warm welcome by the staff (+ a 10 minute welcome massage in the gorgeous spa!!) and instantly fell in love with this desert chic resort. Here are the 5 things I liked best about Las Ventanas:
- The Villas. If you want to stay in a WOW place... look no further. The 1-3 bedroom villas at Las Ventanas are AH-MA-ZING! From having a private pool, a private beach front, the most incredible views, a full kitchen... I could go on and on about these rooms. They're THAT special!!
- The Sense of Place. Las Ventanas did the best job of incorporating "Cabo" into the resort. It didn't feel like a resort that was placed in Cabo but rather one that was thoughtfully designed to fit into the area. From the landscape to the building materials, it was 100% Mexican luxury!
- The Swim Up Bar. The main pool at Las Ventanas is amazing - so many different types of seating areas to choose from with my favorite being the swim up bar!! So fun and such a great way to enjoy a cocktail on a hot day!
- The "Sleeping Under the Stars" Experience. You guys... I can't express how obsessed with this I am! Some room categories come with a rooftop terrace (which are the ones I highly recommend booking through BPK!), and you can have an experience where they set up your bed on that terrace and you literally sleep under the stars. How dreamy!?! I am obsessed.
- The Romance Department. But really, Las Ventanas has an entire department devoted to ROMANCE! I love this! Such a perfect place for a special getaway!!
*The only thing I didn't love about Las Ventanas was the adults pool area. I thought it was a bit small and underwhelming, personally.
The Cape
If you're looking for fun done the right way, look no further! The Cape is the place to see and be seen. Pull out your cutest swimwear & trendiest clothing if you're coming here ... you definitely want to dress to impress! Here are the 5 things I liked best about this Thompson Hotel:
- The Party Vibe. Ok but really... this place is FUN. I couldn't help but think of all my girl friends doing a big trip to The Cape. From the swim up bar at the pool to the vibe given off by the relaxed yet professional staff, I know anyone looking to unwind in luxury would love this spot!
- The Junior Suite. Yes, the room categories below this are great, but this room category is my personal fav! I loved the amazing décor in the Junior Suite ... the copper bathtub, the exaggerated balcony, the bed in the middle of the room. Just cool!
- The Rooftop. Ok this is THE PLACE if you want a sunset drink. Not only does it boast some of the most amazing views in Cabo, it's just fun. The Rooftop has a great drink menu and so many seating options for everyone - barstools, couches, high top and regular tables. I loved it!
- The View of the Arch. No hotel in Cabo has a better view of the archs. It was insane - like an unobstructed view 24/7. If you want a real WOW, book the 3 bedroom rooftop villa to enjoy your own private plunge pool looking at the archs!
- The Music Influence. The Cape has a certain playlist meant for each time of the day... from more chill earlier in the daytime to more upbeat at night. This is all planned by its DJ. The music also is incorporated in the car should you have them take you to and from the airport. Just a thoughtful touch to get its guests in the mood to have a great time!
*Out of the hotels, I personally felt like The Cape was the least luxurious but definitely most fun. I think you should know that this isn't the place that's 100% meant for R&R but rather an experience!
Esperanza
Esperanza was FUN! I felt immediately like a VIP upon arrival. I loved how the staff at the entrance greeted you and remembered your name the entire time. I felt truly special and that the staff was excited YOU are visiting their property! Here are the 5 things I liked best about this Auberge Resort:
- The Décor. Esperanza probably had my favorite décor. We were soooo lucky to stay in an INCREDIBLE penthouse suite which was perfectly furnished with hues of tans and light blues. All the furniture was so comfortable, beachy but high class. I loved it!
- The Room Categories. What I loved about Esperanza is that there is something for everyone with three different room categories. It has regular guest room categories, villas varying in sizes but close to the water and residences that are a bit larger than villas but situated farther back. This is so perfect for families wanting space and a common area to enjoy.
- The Healthy Vibe. Not only was the food served at Esperanza healthy, it also promoted fitness. I saw the most people in workout gear while at Esperanza. This resort offers many workout classes - just what you need to work off the margaritas you will consume later in the day! :)
- The Adult Pool. I had the most fun at the Esperanza adult pool. You can be chill and stay on the upper level pool or on a comfy lounge chair, or you can go to the lower level pool which is definitely more upbeat and has a party vibe. I loved it!
- The Restaurant Options. Esperanza definitely had variety when it came to its restaurants. With different bars and food options to choose from, I very much enjoyed the food selection here and had some wonderful meals!!
*Esperanza is definitely big. If you want something more boutiquey and intimate, this is not the place for you.
The Resort at Pedregal
The Resort at Pedregal is the most luxurious resort closest to the town center of Cabo San Lucas. And did you know they are about to embark on a multi-million dollar beach renovation!? It will be insanely GORG afterwards. But even without it, I was very impressed with this amazing property. It definitely felt the most well rounded! Here are the 5 things I liked best about The Resort at Pedregal:
The Plunge Pools. Did you know every room category at The Resort at Pedregal has a plunge pool!? Like... so amazing! Nothing is more relaxing than watching the sunset while lounging in your very own, private pool!
The Flagship Restaurant. The Resort at Pedregal is home to one of my most favorite restaurants of all time: El Farallon. But really guys, this place is SO. GOOD. You literally pick out a piece of fish freshly caught that day which is displayed on a salt block and then they cook the exact piece you choose + give you tons of food to go with your dish. It is an experience, and not to mention, the restaurant is carved into a beautiful cliff. I can't say enough good things about this place!
The Breakfast Buffet. Ok I know this is a weird thing to put, but the breakfast buffet at Don Manuel's was super special. They even had a build-your-own smoothie and juice bar, and eggs made to order. It was by far the best breakfast I had in Cabo. SO GOOD!
The Personal Concierges. One thing that is sooo cool is that The Resort at Pedregal assigns a personal concierge to every room. These butlers reach out to you before your stay and are there to offer assistance with booking dinner reservations, car service, excursions, etc. It adds such a great personal touch to amplify your experience.
The Location. If you want to get to Cabo to hit up Squid Row or dine at Edith's, this is the place! The Resort at Pedregal is minutes from the heart of Cabo San Lucas. You can choose to stay at the resort and feel like you're in a secluded, luxurious oasis or you can take a 2 minute drive into town. I loved how versatile it was!
*While The Resort at Pedregal is family friendly, I felt like it was a more romantic resort than family oriented resort, in my opinion!
But moral of the story, I am obsessed with Cabo.
