Blaire's Been - St Barth's

Anytime anyone asks many travel advisors what is their favorite island in the Caribbean, the most popular response is St Barth’s. I always wondered why… don’t get me wrong, I LOVEEE a great hotel, amazing beach clubs, beautiful water, great restaurants, fun nightlife and top notch people watching, but did this island really have it all? I made it my mission to find out for myself, and spoiler alert, it does!

Getting to St Barths is not as difficult as it seems. This island which neighbors Anguilla and St Martin can be accessed by flights from St Martin or San Juan. I opted for the San Juan connection and took the regional Tradewind flight which was so easy! Once I departed my United flight in San Juan, a Tradewind representative took me straight from the plane to the Tradewind exclusive lounge to wait during my short connection. From there, it was a 50 minute flight which was stocked with Veuve champagne, wine and soft drinks. Flying in style, right!?!

While in St Barths, I was able to check out some amazing hotels and experience some great restaurants and nightlife. My favorite dinner out was at Tamarin and of course I had to check out the world famous Le Ti! … just think, an incredibly fun bar with a HUGE costume closet!! Is there anything more fun than dancing to the latest tracks while dressed in a ridiculously crazy outfit!?

And yall, the hotels there are just so amazing! I feel so lucky to have seen and stayed at some of the best hotels! There are two I did not see because they were in the process of renovating: Eden Rock and Cheval Blanc. These are two of the best on the island, but I was able to view renderings of the new design and am very excited for their rebuild. Cheval Blanc also so graciously hosted us on an incredibly catamaran for the afternoon so we could get to know the GM and Sales Manager and hear all the exciting developments both at the hotel and on the island. I am VERY excited for this gem’s reopening!

Le Toiny

My trip began with a stay at Le Toiny, and this hotel was on my radar! I was so intrigued by its stand alone accommodations, each with a plunge pool, and absolutely loved the clean and crisp design. Showing up to Le Toiny did not disappoint. I stayed in a newly constructed room which echo’ed the design in the other villas, and I loved the Sonos speakers surround sound, incredible lighting in the bathroom and the most comfortable linens on the bed. Soon after check in, we met at the iconic bar (think seashells with hot pink bar stools!) for a drink before a beautiful dinner overlooking the main pool. One feature I was most excited about was Le Toiny’s beach club which is known as one of the best on the islands. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive down the beach (rides provided by Le Toiny!) and has a restaurant, lounge chairs and a DJ spinning some lively tracks. After the most recent hurricane. the beach almost doubled in size, so it’s a huge treat for Le Toiny to be able to enjoy this stretch on the ocean. I think Le Toiny is perfect for a romantic escape because you can retreat to your private villa for some alone time but still have access to a more upbeat experience at the beach club should you choose!

Le Sereno

We then checked in to Le Sereno, and I just absolutely loved it. The entre resort was focused around its main pool, and the bent trees in between the pool and the ocean made the entire space so special. There are a variety of rooms in Le Sereno, each having dark wood floors with bright white linens. Very clean and beachy! You could stay in a bungalow room, but I would recommend to stay in room categories higher than that to get a view of the ocean and feel more secluded. Le Sereno has a peaceful vibe and was right on the ocean, so you could go for a swim at your leisure. The overall feel was laid back luxury, and I could have lounged by that main pool forever!!

Manapany

We took a tour and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Manapany. This resort was definitely the most rustic we saw and had tons of rooms to choose from. If you are traveling with families, this is likely the best spot for you. Manapany’s pool was not necessarily my favorite, but it had a huge stretch of the beach with tons of lounge chairs to enjoy. This resort had beautifully crafted furniture in each room that played with both beachy and primary colors. The décor felt playful but still luxurious. I felt that this hotel was the most chill of the ones I visited!

Le Barthelemy

Located just down the beach from Le Sereno, we toured Le Barthelemy and loved it! This hotel was definitely the most modern of the ones we saw and had huge common spaces for its guests to enjoy: a long stretch of the beach with many lounge chairs, a huge infinity pool, great restaurants overlooking the water and one of the most gorgeous spas! The entire resort felt so fresh and new and up to date - totally a great spot for people who want something newer with more modern finishes.

Villa Marie

On our last night we stayed at Villa Marie, and seriously yall, I’ve never seen anywhere cuter! This resort is on the hillside, so you don’t have access to the beach (though this are rumblings that a beach club may be in their future…), but in turn, you get awesome views of the water and the cutest designed rooms! Everything is decorated in bright colors and is totally a blogger’s paradise. And the food there is amazing - their brunch is known for being one of the best on the island! From Villa Marie, you can take a path down and hike to Colombier Beach which is only accessible on foot or by boat, and it’s a stunning beach! You can get your workout in or pack a picnic to enjoy on your excursion. Villa Marie is just so cute and playful and fun, and I think so many of my clients would love their stay here!

So yea, I was not 100% on board with St Barth’s being the best island in the Caribbean before my trip, but afterwards, I’m a total convert and absolutely fell in love! I highly encourage everyone to try to make it to St Barths at some point because it really is so special and just so fun! As always, contact BPK to help you experience this incredible destination!
